We build our homes with block construction. Building block homes to withstand 160 mph hurricanes involves several key construction techniques and materials to ensure the structure's resilience against high winds and storm impacts. Here’s a brief overview of the process:
Foundation: The foundation is critical for stability of the home. It is made of steel reinforced concrete, supported by concrete footers. Footings are an important part of foundation construction. They are made of concrete with rebar reinforcement that has been poured into an excavated trench. The purpose of footings is to support the foundation and prevent settling.
Reinforced Concrete Blocks: The walls are constructed using concrete blocks reinforced with steel rebar and filled with concrete columns in strategic locations. The rebar is placed both vertically and horizontally which strengthens the structure against lateral wind forces.
Roof Connections: The roof is securely attached to the walls using hurricane straps embedded in solid poured concrete along the top of the exterior block walls. Hurricane clips ensure the roof remains intact and connected to the house during high winds. Roof trusses are also reinforced with additional bracing.
Impact Windows and Doors: Windows and doors are fitted with impact-resistant glass and frames. This glass is designed to withstand flying debris and high pressures. This comes standard with all of our homes, removing the need to install shutters during high winds and hurricanes.
Exterior Finishes: The exterior stucco material is selected for it’s durability and resistance to water and wind damage.
Roof Design: Roofs are designed with a low slope to reduce wind uplift. Hip roofs, which slope on all sides, are particularly effective in deflecting the wind.
By integrating these elements, block homes can achieve the necessary strength and durability to meet 160 mph hurricane codes, ensuring the safety and protection of our customers during severe weather events.

A Custom Home Builder is a specialized construction company that collaborates closely with clients to design and construct homes tailored to their specific preferences and requirements. Unlike production builders who create homes based on pre-designed plans without customization options, custom home builders work from scratch and or make customizations to their existing plans. They provide personalized services, ensuring that every detail, from the floor plan to the finishes, aligns with the client's vision. The choices in amenities and finishes include a wide variety of high end flooring, cabinets, appliances, granite countertops, door profiles, bathroom tile, lightning fixtures, and custom pool design. This process typically involves a higher level of craftsmanship, flexibility, and direct client involvement, resulting in a unique, one-of-a-kind home.
