Manasota Beach Restoration Under Way

This week’s blog is all about the Manasota Beach restoration project that started Monday, March 2nd. According to project planners, the beach is receiving 275,000 cubic yards of sand which will be dredged from below the water line. The dredging crew is facing a May 1st deadline to finish before our annual sea turtle nesting season. Charlotte County has been discussing the need for a beach restoration with residents and Sarasota County officials since 2003. Sarasota County is still trying to work out details, such as financing the project, with Charlotte County. All of this planning to make Manasota beach a great place for locals and snowbirds alike shows the care our county workers put into this town every day. Next time you see a county worker trimming the foliage for our roads or shooting elevation for future projects, let them know that you are grateful for their work. A little kindness will always be appreciated.
